Random Bullet Thursday!
- I am enjoying my new truck soooooo much! It is so fun to drive and the moonroof is awesome! Did I mention this is the first vehicle I’ve owned that had a moonroof??? Yeah, kinda sad, I know!
- A friend of mine had a really bad bleeding scare after gastric bypass surgery, but she is doing fine now. Doctors say it is an ulcer and are treating it accordingly. Things were VERY scary yesterday, but so far today she is doing MUCH better!
- Tomorrow is my Mom and Dad’s 40th wedding anniversary! WOW!!!! That is really incredible! They don’t always see eye to eye, but they have made it through hard times and are still together… and it’s still a work in progress!
- I plan on watching fireworks Saturday…. I have always loved watching them. They shoot them off by the waterfront where I live and it really is beautiful to see.
- My middle nephew has been at camp all week and will come home tomorrow around lunch time. This is the same camp that me and Brandi went to every summer when we were kids. I really hope he had as much fun as we always did!
- I am so glad that this is a long weekend! I really need that extra day to clean my freaking apartment! It is past due on a deep cleaning and I plan to get that accomplished before Monday!
- My topsy-turvy thing is doing really great… it’s really green and I have several tomatoes that are growing beautifully. I can’t wait til they are red and ready to eat!
- Ever since I had my tonsils out, my taste buds have been on vacation apparently. NOTHING tastes right, not chocolate or anything really! So far the only foods that still have a good taste to me are pasta with some sort of tomato based sauce and philly cheese steak. This is a good/bad thing all at the same time!
- I have not drank anything other than water or juice since June 1st. Water is what I prefer now all the time. Juice tastes a little funny and with water I don’t have to worry about it burning my throat!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!
Things … they are a looking up!
I feel bad about not writing, but really I’m not sure what to even write about. I have been so worried and consumed with trying to find a new vehicle before turning in the rental that I haven’t really thought of much else. Well, I can finally relax about that!!! Yesterday I bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited AND I love it!!! I had test drove it last week and pretty much fell in love with it! It has everything I wanted and more! There were times that I didn’t think I would be able to get it, but the dealership worked with me and actually dropped a thousand dollars off the already low price just so the payments would be in my price range! It already has brand new tires on it and drives like a dream. I purchased a K & N airfilter for it and plan to put that in today after work. Here, take a look at my new ride!!!
I Don’t Even Know Where to Start!
Wow! It has been such a long time since I have even logged in to my blog, much less updated! It really feels like forever. So much has been going on that I just have not had the time to update or either have not felt good enough to update.
I had a tonsillectomy on June 2nd and the surgery went great. I was in a lot of pain and very tired, but other than that, things were fine. Then on the 9th I woke up in the middle of the night bleeding from my throat. That was some scary shit!!! The doctor on call advised me to gargle cold water and suck on ice… I did that and eventually the bleeding stopped. I couldn’t even go back to sleep that night… I was terrified of bleeding again. Anyways, I didn’t bleed at all on Wednesday, but very early Thursday morning, the bleeding started again. It wasn’t nearly as bad that time and I got it stopped pretty quickly. Friday there wasn’t really any bleeding, but Jay was in a bad accident while driving my truck to get me some crushed ice. Some idiot was driving all erratic and hit him on the driver side rear tire. It pushed the truck into the curb and the truck rolled several times, taking out a fence and coming to rest on the passenger side up against a wooden shed. Thankfully Jay was not seriously injured! The other car also flipped and landed on it’s roof, then the driver jumped out and ran…. He didn’t turn his self in until Saturday morning. My truck is a complete loss. Poor Bertha! She had a good run and I will definitely miss her! Anyways, Saturday my mom came over to stay with me because of course Saturday morning I started bleeding again! I ended up going to the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and they cauterized a couple spots on my throat. I thought for sure that would take care of the bleeding. Boy was I WRONG!
My mom had to get her oil changed so she dropped me and my nephew off at my apartment and went ahead to have that done. Of course, I started bleeding AGAIN! But this time it was much, much worse. I started vomiting blood and it was just horrible…. My nephew called my mom and she hurried back (thankfully they had finished her car) and he also called the doctor for me and I was told to get to the emergency room so that I could have surgery, again!
I was so sick by the time we arrived… I had been throwing up blood for almost an hour or more by the time I was taken back to surgery… They went over all the risks and I was pretty scared, but I just really wanted the bleeding to stop! The doctor found the bleeding blood vessel and secured it with a stitch. I have not had any bleeding since that last surgery on Saturday, the 13th. I was not able to eat anything the entire time after the 1st surgery on the 2nd. So, I have been about 2 1/2 weeks now without eating anything other than a few spoonfuls of frozen yogurt and drinking water. Needless to say I have lost almost 20 pounds! But this is really NOT the way I wanted to lose it!
I’m finally back to work full time and it really does feel good to be in a normal routine again. I did eat a little over half of a Wendy’s baked potato last night, but it was still really hard to swallow. The doctor said that would rectify itself with time. My tonsils were excessively large and he said I had a bit of healing left to do.
I’m hoping to have more time to post now that things are just about back to normal. I have a rental car and last night I went looking for a new vehicle… I had forgot how much vehicle hunting sucks! I did find a few promising vehicles though. Now I just have to wait on the other guys insurance to settle everything and then I can make some moves!
In Which I Reveal Just How Clumsy I Really Am…
I had an awesome 3 day weekend!!! It was fabulous and I really didn’t go anywhere or do anything extra special, just hung out around the apartment, had friends over… went out to eat and did a little shopping. It was a relaxing and well needed long weekend!
Y’all know I am in Boot Camp (at my gym), right? So, we had class with the morning instructor on Saturday morning and Oh Mah Gawd!!! She was soooo tough! Class was hell, but we all made it through. I wanted to continue my exercising on Sunday and decided to ride my bike around the neighborhoods behind my gym…. There is a 2 mile loop that we ran in boot camp one time and I figured I could do that twice on my bike and then ride around a little before heading home. Um, yeah right! I am not directional at all people and I freaking got lost in that neighborhood… lol… could not find my way back for nothing… I did do the 2 mile loop twice though before I got lost, but I probably ended up riding about 6 miles (give or take) before I found a street that I was familiar with. I am so terrible with freaking directions to the point that it is just sad! lmao.
Anyways, once I got back home after my bike riding excursion, I went to get a nice relaxing shower! J was taking a nap on the couch and I knew I wouldn’t have to rush my shower. So anyways, I ended up busting my ass in the fucking shower! I’m not talking about a little slip, I’m talking about falling and busting my ass! It’s funny now, because I didn’t really get hurt too badly. I did sit in the tub for a few minutes after I fell because I was in shock I guess… I tore the shower curtain down (it’s on a rod that is removable so it didn’t get messed up at all) and the worst part is that I landed on my right arm (close to the elbow) and the right side of my back. And to make it even worse, I fell on the metal track for the glass doors to slide on…. I didn’t like the doors, so they are in my closet, but the track is not removable…. that freaking track hurt like HELL!!! I have a pretty bad bruise on my back and a weird bruise on my elbow, am sore as hell, but other than that am fine! I’m just glad I didn’t hit my head!
Oh, and to top it all off, J didn’t even wake up from his nap when I fell!!! lol. He was still knocked out through it all… I took a little nap after my shower, about 30 minutes and then we both got up and I told him about the fall.
I have pretty much always been clumsy, trip all the time over nothing… it’s pretty bad, but at least I had never fell in the shower… damn! can’t even say that anymore!
Fun Fact Friday!
Another rousing edition of Fun Fact Friday!!!! (sarcasm rules!)
- My tonsillectomy is scheduled for 6/4/09. I am TERRIFIED of having to be put to sleep for this surgery… It’s outpatient, I know, and pretty routine. BUT, I am a big ass pansy when it comes to stuff being cut out of me!
- Boot Camp is officially kicking my ass! I love it though. It really is a lot of fun and it has been so beneficial at getting me motivated to work out more often. Having to write down EVERYTHING I eat is definitely helping me to eat better!
- TGIF! And this is a long weekend, too! Soooo glad!
- UFC is Saturday and I cannot wait! Y’all know I love me some MMA! I am really pulling for Matt Serra to beat Matt Hughes! As for the Evans/Machida fight?? I really don’t know! Both are undefeated and both have awesome fighting styles.
- I have really been drinking a whole lot of water for the past couple of weeks… And I feel so much better! I have not been having headaches as much and I feel as though I have way more energy.
- My custom CSS subscription is about to run out and I don’t think I’m going to renew it because I’m not even using it right now. I really want to straight up customize my site, but I haven’t really come up with what exactly I really want it to look like.
- Did I mention I LOVE boot camp, but it is KICKING MY ASS!
- I had an awesome lunch today with the loverly Brandi! We ate popcorn chicken shakers from Arby’s and talked about sex!! Our favorite topic!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!
**My apartment complex’s pool opens this weekend!!! YEAH! Now I can swim to get fit, too!**
I Missed My Own Blogoversary!!!!
eeek! I actually missed my own freaking blogoversary! By like a couple days, but still! The hell? Anyways, I am blaming it on Boot Camp! Yes, I actually paid money to have someone make me do exercises until I feel like I’m gonna puke and/or pass out! It’s actually kind of fun though… especially when it’s over!! The classes are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings. It just started on 5/12 and lasts 6 weeks. I am really enjoying myself and hope that it really pays off in the end.
Also! I am having surgery on 6/4 to have my freaking huge ass coconut tonsils taken out! YEAH me! I’ve been trying to get everything caught up and settled at work. I’m also scared shitless about being put to sleep… I have never had any kind of surgery or had anything major done to me! The doctor said it will take a week or two to heal so I will be out of work for several days afterwards… Y’all know I like a day off, but damn… I don’t like being out of work due to being in pain…. The doctor also stressed to me that it will hurt REALLY REALLY bad!
I can’t believe that I have had this blog for a year now… seems like I just started it sometimes. In the beginning I wrote mostly about my journey with Weight Watchers, but these days I seem to write just about anything. My life is very different now than it was then. I feel like I’ve changed for the better. I am definitely more focused on what I want in the future. I’m still making plans on how to achieve the things I want… that is a work in progress! I’m really glad that I started blogging. It gives me a way to sort things out in my own head.
Relay for Life
The Martin County Relay for Life was held on May 1st and 2nd, 2009. My family and I have generally always gone out to the event, but ever since Carigans 2004 leukemia diagnosis, it has seemed more important that we participate. Although Carigan is in remission, we can still vividly remember those scary days that were several years ago, but still seem like yesterday sometimes. Relay is always a lot of fun, but it also is a reminder that not everyone survives and there are loved ones lost every day to cancer. The survivor walk is so emotional … seeing the survivors walk (some with canes, some in wheelchairs) and hearing their names and how long since their diagnosis. Mostly it is older people, but there is always a few younger folks. Carigan is only 5 and I saw another little girl that was 9. The kids that have cancer are the ones that always get to me. It just seems so sad that they have to go through such a horrible disease. But when I look at my niece and see just how happy she is, even when she was going through the rough treatments. She is constantly smiling and is overall a very happy kid. Cancer didn’t break her down.
Here are few pics from the weekend:
We had a really great time out at Relay… My mom, dad, brothers, nephews, and even aunts and uncles go out there…. There were so many people out to support the cause… It was beautiful to see.
You can find the rest of the Relay pics here.
Vacations always feel soooo good!
I am back from my week long vacation!!! I had not a care in the world! I took my niece to the beach for a couple of days and we had a girls beach party. We had so much fun, going to the aquarium and also to Fort Macon. I also turned 31 on Monday, the 4th… lol, I am now a thirty something! This birthday was much easier on me (mentally) than the last one. I wasn’t all freaked out and worried about getting older. I’m getting comfortable with who I am and there are things that I want to change, but I don’t feel like my “time” is running out anymore.
I haven’t really gotten on the computer very much this past week at all. I basically took a break from work and technology! It was a much needed reset. I am back at work today feeling refreshed and ready to get things done. I have an appointment to donate blood tomorrow and then on Wednesday I go to the ear, nose, and throat specialist to see about getting my tonsils removed.
Getting in shape has really been weighing heavily on my mind this past week. I don’t want to be 35 or 40 and still not in shape… I know that it will always be a battle to stay healthy, but I know that I am not doing as much as I could be doing. Basically I have been lazy lately and it shows. It shows in how my clothing fits and it shows in my attitude. This morning I got up before 5am and drug my ass to the gym and you know what? I felt so much better and my morning moved along instead of me getting up at the last minute and feeling rushed to get ready. I felt refreshed after running. I am also incorporating jumping rope into my routine. It is kicking my ass right now, but I know that if I stick with it, it will get better! I also did a few chest exercises… In all I was in the gym about an hour. My gym is having boot camp thing that lasts for 6 weeks and I may try to get in on that if it is not too late. It starts tomorrow so I’m not sure if I have missed out on it. It sounds like it will be really fun, but really hard!
I have so many blogs to catch up on!!! It will probably take me all week to do it! I must admit though, it feels really good to be back!
Things That Are Getting on my NERVES… lately! and other stuff.
I am super-busy at work this week trying to get some deadline stuff done so I don’t have a lot of posting time! Here is a bulleted list of things that are currently getting on my nerves:
- People with crusty feet that proudly wear flip flops – GET some lotion in your life, please!
- Frizzy Hair – and I mean my own.
- Potty Issues – I would just like to shit regularly and without issues, is that too much to ask???? (what? TMI? … sorry!)
- Excel – I usually don’t mind Excel, but I am spending way too much time with it lately!
- Too Tight Clothes – again, I mean my own! I am trying to lose some freaking weight so that I can fit back into my cute clothes.
- Fat – I don’t like fat! Never have, never will. It mocks me and won’t leave me alone.
- Wearing Shoes – It’s hot and I don’t feel like wearing shoes.
- Exhaustion – I am tired no matter how much sleep I get, and here lately, it ain’t much! I don’t like taking sleeping aids, but I have got to get some real sleep!
- Tonsils – Or more specifically my tonsils… they are huge and holey and making my throat hurt… tired of them and am ready to get them taken out!
- Sinuses – Mine suck right now!
- Getting a Pay CUT – so, um, yeah! That is getting on my nerves, but it could be worse, I suppose!
Well, that is quite enough… I have listed enough! It’s not all bad around here though! Relay-for-Life is this weekend and my niece is here to walk her survivor lap! She loves the festivities and I love seeing her happy! Also, my nephew, Matthew, hit his very first home run on Monday night. It was also the first game that I have been to this season…. I like to think that he hit it just for me!
I also had a beach weekend with my girls this past weekend for my 31st birthday!!! My b-day is 5/4, but we celebrated early… Much, much fun was had and I will try to update later with pics. Let’s just say that we all had a great time!!! And no one was arrested! Bonus!
Tee Gee Aye Eff!
Wow! I cannot believe I have not posted all freaking week! Here is a random list of things that have kept me from posting this week:
- The Sick – I was feeling like hot fried shit on Monday and didn’t do much of anything!
- Spreadsheets! – OMG, I have 12 spreadsheets that I have to edit/update and there are at least 6-8 tabs on each sheet. That is pretty much all I have been working on.
- Tanning – I’ve been going to tan everyday (almost) after work.
- Gym – I have gone running this week!!! Not everyday, but still, I ran more than I usually do and after I ran I walked for a couple more miles!
- Life in General – I have just not had the mind frame to sit still and post anything! It’s not that I have been super busy at home, but have just had other things to do and lost track of time and have not posted.
- American Idol – CANNOT post at night when American Idol is on… am addicted to this show! (so sad to see Lil and Anoop go!)
Anyways, I had a big weekend last weekend and now here I am this weekend with big plans for the beach with my girls! Last weekend was a MMA fight and a few friends were fighting in that so it was a good time even though not all the fights ended the way I wanted them to… but that’s ok… My guys will fight again! I can’t wait for J to fight again!!! Am so excited to see him do his thing in the cage! But that is a post for another time!
I’m getting off work today at noon, getting an oil change, and then getting my things together for my beach trip! It’s set to be a beautiful day today and a beautiful weekend; highs in the 80’s!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!

Stumble It!
